Why Can't We All Be Beautiful?

Have you ever felt like the world was working against you? Have you ever spent way longer than you’d like to admit scrolling through pictures of the "perfect tumblr girls" wishing you could look like that? Have you ever thought that they’re better than you?
Because they’re not.

There is more pressure than ever to look a certain way. Modern girls consider it the norm to have perfect hair, flawless skin, and be a size 2. Great for those of you who just naturally are that way, but for many of us that just isn’t reality, myself included. Girls can find themselves feeling like they’re not “enough” simply because they’re different than the girls we see glorified all over the Internet. There are many serious conditions that can spawn from a negative self-image so I’m begging you, don’t fall down the rabbit hole! All I’m asking is why can’t we all be beautiful? Why can’t we accept ourselves as we are? Why do we have to constantly bash ourselves and drive ourselves mad with negativity? I just want to remind you that beauty is not limited to those few who have pin straight hair and a thigh gap. We are all enough, we are all worth it, and we are ALL beautiful.

We need to learn to accept ourselves, flaws and all, because our flaws are part of what makes us beautiful. If you won’t listen to me then listen to some of the greats. Marilyn Monroe told us that “Imperfection is beauty, madness is genius, and it's better to be absolutely ridiculous than absolutely boring.”. Marc Jacobs said “I always find beauty in things that are odd & imperfect, they are much more interesting”. Even John Lennon had it right when he told us “We need to learn how to love ourselves first, in all our glory and imperfections”. It’s about time that we stopped being insecure and chasing after impossible “Barbie Doll” standards; it’s time to just be happy with who we are and what we’ve got.

I’ve always told my friends that how you see yourself effects how others see you. It’s all about carrying yourself confidently and taking all things in stride. Of course, we all have our bad days, but if you walk with your head held high no one else has to know it. Show the world that you think you’re fabulous and soon enough the world will think so too. Its kinda my “fake it till you make it” strategy. The first step is being able to accept all of yourself and let go of the negativity.

So am I saying to toss out all your makeup and beauty products? Most certainly not! I am however saying that you should be “beautifying” because it makes YOU happy. Don’t pile on pounds of makeup for some guy or to fit in because compromising who you are for others acceptance is never okay. If people can’t get past their own superficial standards to get to know you then it’s their loss, honestly. If makeup is your thing then by all means go for it, but if it’s just not your cup for tea then why waste your time and money on something you’re not into?

Personally I love getting “dolled up” and experimenting with new products, which is why I’m so excited to write this blog. This is something that makes me happy, but what is it that makes you happy? Find out and get to work! & Through the good days, the bad days, & even no makeup days, just remember that everyday is a beautiful day.

Hey There Mr. Internet

After toying around with the idea of writing a blog for quite some time, I've finally gone and done it. For years I've been obsessed with reading beauty blogs and watching YouTube beauty videos and I'm finally getting in on the fun. This blog is going to be a sort of beauty diary, I'll be posting reviews, how to's, and some thoughts. Just throwing my opinions out on that wonderful world wide web hoping that someone somewhere finds it helpful. I want to know what your thoughts as well so comment and let me know whats on your mind! Lets get to it!
